The Dairy

As featured in 25 Beautiful Homes, June 2014

Rendall & Wright were commissioned to transform a former listed dairy building into a calm and contemporary annex to a period farmhouse. Lindsey approached the design with a sensitive understanding of the building’s heritage, using natural materials and a gentle, understated palette to create a serene and welcoming retreat.

The original architectural features were carefully preserved and enhanced, providing a beautiful backdrop for the simplicity of the bespoke kitchen and joinery. Their clean, understated design sits comfortably within the historic fabric, allowing the character of the building to remain at the forefront.

Wool and linen fabrics introduce warmth, softness and texture throughout, creating an interior that feels both refined and wonderfully cosy. Lindsey also worked closely with the garden designer to create a seamless relationship between the interiors and the surrounding landscape, ensuring that the colours, materials and atmosphere flowed effortlessly from inside to out.

The result is a quietly elegant space where historic character, natural materials and contemporary design come together in perfect balance.
