Rendall & Wright worked alongside local architects KLH to transform a traditional Suffolk village pub into a sophisticated boutique hotel, restaurant, bar, function hall and luxurious spa, carefully balancing the character of the existing period property with a fresh and contemporary hospitality experience.
A substantial oak-framed extension was introduced to provide the much-needed restaurant space, creating a natural connection between the original building and the new architecture. Lindsey developed the interiors throughout, including private dining spaces, a wine cellar, reception room, cocktail bar, 12 en-suite bedrooms, the coach house and a series of inviting outdoor terraces.
The design encompassed every layer of the guest experience, from surface finishes, bathrooms and bespoke bar design to individually crafted joinery, furniture, handmade soft furnishings, artwork and accessories. Each element was carefully considered to create a cohesive sense of place, combining relaxed Suffolk character with understated sophistication.
The detailed designs were expertly coordinated and brought to life by Helen and the highly skilled Rendall & Wright team, whose craftsmanship and attention to detail ensured that every aspect of the project was beautifully executed.
The result is a warm and distinctive destination that celebrates the spirit of the village pub while offering the comfort, character and refinement of a contemporary boutique hotel.
